Wine Connoisseur Jim Mannix steals the night...

Posted: August 27, 2015

Wine Connoisseur Jim Mannix created a delightful evening of wine tasting at the St. Patrick’s Parish House for winners of the Gala Live Auction Wine Tasting. Jim is steeped in wine knowledge from growing up in the, “family business” in Boston! His Irish charm and wit could not be outdone by his deep knowledge of reds and whites.

Guests enjoyed an evening of crisp whites from Vigilance, Bouchard Pere & Fils, Buehler Vineyards. Jim offered a robust selection of reds from Wildstock, Domaine Jean Fournier and Clos Du Val Vineyards. Rich descriptions of growing regions and conditions, wine dynasties and reflections on the distinct flavors that guests sampled, were just a few of the highlights!

Guests also had an opportunity to savor to two ports as a surprise at the end of the evening. Thanks to Jim’s wife, gourmet Meg Mannix who orchestrated the hearty selection of appetizers. Guests enjoyed beef and chicken satays, bite-size mushroom pates, and caprese bites. There was also a lovely selection of cheeses and French bread. There were dark chocolate dipped caramels with sea salt and a beautiful selection of desserts. We are grateful to all of our donors and guests!

Plans are underway for the Gala for Brighter Tomorrows! It will be held on Saturday, December 5, 2015 at St. Patrick’s! If you would like to donate or volunteer, contact Social Justice.
