Unexpected Gifts

Posted: June 06, 2017

The amazing thing about working in Social Justice is that there are always unexpected gifts that show up in my office. When I returned from a family holiday on Monday, I was greeted by a beautiful handmade quilt on my desk. It was made by a delightful woman in the parish who had been thinking about perfect colors and fabrics for a quilt she was making for a baby she doesn’t know. It will be donated with the porta crib filled with beautiful blankets, diapers, clothes, wipes, books and stuffed animals for Blessings for Babies.

Our Gala for Brighter Tomorrows will shine brighter this year with stunning silver candelabra’s from the Lancer’s Dance Club. A generous member of the parish rounded up 10 candelabra’s that were stored with friends and neighbors so she could donate all of them for our event! To my surprise, a cart was filled with these items…

I also returned to freshly laundered and folded aprons for Loaves & Fishes. Plus there were stacks of new and gently used books for children at Loaves & Fishes. This collection of gifts reminds me of the numerous ways that your best intentions are always lifting up our work to reduce poverty and to bring joy to other people!

We are so grateful! Thank you!
