Lesson Learned - Hope for Redemption

The Hall where the Declaration of Independence and Constitution were signed. The Liberty Bell symbolizing our freedom.  The podium from which our 16th President delivered the Gettysburg Address. A National Park Center housing many of our nation's treasures. Individuals from all backgrounds with so many different life stories and experiences. A magnificent and very fitting location to encounter our Holy Father for the first time...

Saturday Afternoon - Independence Mall

While our summit meeting activities were winding down, the festivities connected with encountering Pope Francis as part of the World Meeting of Families events were definitely on the uptick! What a magnificent setting for our first encounter with Papa Francisco - Independence Mall - where the Declaration of Independence and Constitution were signed, where the Liberty Bell is on display and where Pope Francis was to give a speech on immigration...

#DoYouSeeMe? March to create awareness through downtown Philly!

The highlight of Friday involved a march through the streets of Philly. Members of our group of nearly 300 people carried signs "I am created in the image of God - #DoYouSeeMe?  We were encouraged to attach photos or write names of those we know who are not being seen/heard by society to create awareness and to encounter others as Pope Francis has called us to do...

The Pope Arrives in Philly Saturday morning!

Pope Francis arrives this morning!  While we arrived to continue our PICO Faith Matters in America Summit in the Liberty Ballroom on the third floor of the Sheraton hotel, the first and second floors were filled with clergy, religious and families who received special passes to attend the Mass with Pope Francis at the Cathedral Basilica of Sts. Peter & Paul (adjacent to the Sheraton). Hard to believe they'll be celebrating Mass next door!
