What are the Spiritual Exercises?
The Spiritual Exercises are a compilation of meditations and reflections developed by St. Ignatius of Loyola to help one deepen one’s relationship with God. The Spiritual Exercises are structured in four distinct weeks, with a clear framework that carries the retreatant through a series of contemplative meditations and prayers. These are not literally seven-day weeks, but separate, distinct stages on a spiritual journey.
The goal of the Exercises for Ignatius is freedom — “freedom from” attachments that get in the way of becoming who God made us to be, and conversely, “freedom for” loving and serving God with our whole being. St. Ignatius wanted individuals to undertake these exercises with the assistance of an experienced spiritual director who would help them shape the retreat and understand what they were experiencing.

Beloved and Becoming
Weekend Retreat | October 22–25, 2026

This retreat invites us to rest first in God’s deep delight in us. From that place of belovedness, we listen for Christ’s invitations and the gentle ways he is shaping our lives. As we encounter his mercy and friendship, we grow in the freedom to follow him with discernment, trust, and love.

Laboring with Christ to Heal Our Wounded World
Midweek Retreat | November 10–12, 2026
Presenter | Susan Stabile
St. Ignatius understood that each of us—not just a small group of select people, but every one—is called to labor with Christ to make manifest God’s vision for humankind. What does that call look like to us today? And what do we need to respond wholeheartedly to that invitation? During this time of retreat, we will explore key elements of Ignatian Spirituality and the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius that are aimed at helping us to grow in our readiness to co-labor with Christ to bring to our world the healing it so desperately needs.
